When you think of a pharmacy you probably think of going there with your prescriptions. After all, that's the traditional pharmacy that you've grown up with.

But the neighborhood pharmacy has changed with the times and you just might be surprised at all of the other goods and services that pharmacies offer.

Today's modern pharmacy is interested in serving its customers with more than just pharmacy services. To offer a greater level of service means you'll spend more time and more money with that store and become a loyal customer over the long term.

But lest you think this is disadvantageous, it's a time-saving benefit to you too.

Delivery

People are of course busy these days and one of the pharmacy services that some independent pharmacies still offer is delivery.

You can have your prescriptions delivered to your home (and sometimes office) which is a great help when you are homebound or otherwise unable to get to the pharmacy to get your needed medications.

Drive through

Another pharmacy service that some pharmacies offer is drive-through services. You can drive through to drop off and pick up prescriptions.

It's not quite while you wait like at the bank or at a fast food restaurant, you do have to drop off your pharmacy prescription and then come back later to get it, but drive through services are still timesavers.

With the drive through pharmacy, you can make this an easy addition to your regular errands. Plus, if you have a sick kid, you don't have to get out of the car again; same thing if you have any kind of mobility issues.

Grocery section

If your pharmacy also offers the added benefit of a grocery section, this is also a great timesaver. While filling your prescription, you can pick up a few essentials like bread and milk.

Of course you wouldn't do your full grocery shopping here but if you have a sick child, it can be a great help to only have to make one stop instead of many.

General goods

A pharmacy that offers customers general goods as well as the ability to get prescriptions filled is helpful because it saves you time and gas in driving around.

You can pick up random items that you need like greeting cards, diapers, magazines, snack foods, cosmetics, toiletries, and even seasonal decorations, and postage stamps.

Other in-store services

When a pharmacy offers other in-store services, they can really offer customers one-stop shopping. Common in-store services include things like banking and photo finishing (sometimes even one-hour photo finishing).

These are services that you'd ordinarily have to go elsewhere for. Now you can stay close to home and still get what you need. As you can see, a pharmacy these days is more than just getting prescriptions filled.

You can do so much more, like buy grocery items or holiday decorations, even banking or film developing. The great thing about these modern pharmacy stores is that they can really save you time and money as you don't have to drive all over town.
